Ok, so this may not seem like the most appetizing cookie you will ever make but once you see and taste the finished product you will want to make another batch instantly.
Trust me 😉
Sugar Cookie Recipe below
I did not take pictures of me making the sugar cookie dough because “still forgetting to take pictures all the time”, sorry.
So once you have your cookie dough all mixed up this is were it gets a little sticky.
So divide your dough into 6 different bowls. You will color each of these bowls of dough into different colors by mixing it in with a spoon. So you will have purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, and pink.
The best advice I can give you for making these cookies is to get food coloring paste and NOT liquid. Your cookies will thank you because they will have wonderful vibrant colors. I use Americolor food coloring because I am a cake decorator and this is the gold standard for me 🙂
So now you have all your colors divided up. Now take out some plastic wrap and for each color dump onto the plastic wrap and roll into a log and cover and put into the refrigerator for about 1 hour for the dough to get firm.
Take out your 6 tubes of colored dough from the refrigerator and you want to cut them into 1/2″ or so slices and start make little piles like below.
Here is the fun part. You want to take a stack of colors and roll them in your hand to swirl the colors. Make sure not to swirl them too much 😉 Start to make a long snake with the dough about 12+/-” long.
Now you want to swirl the dough in on itself like a lollipop.
Just before the oven!
Bake for about 10-12 minutes.
The cookies on the right haven’t got the glaze yet.
So to get that magical sparkle on your cookies here is the secret.
Ready? Ready? Prepare yourself for the bombshell.
White glitter dust and Twinkle Dust in Hologram Silver or Rainbow and you mix this in with a little corn syrup then paint your gorgeous cookies and let them dry for around 10-15 minutes.
You can also use Sparkle Gel from Wilton which you can get at Michaels Stores. I order all my cake decorating supplies online of course because I live in the middle of nowhere 😉 I don’t think the Sparkle Gel is sparkly enough for me however but it works great.
Here is your finished product. Just seeing these I want to make some more because they are so incredibly fun.
The pictures really don’t do them justice. They are so glittery and fun. A must see in person.
